Canadian Embassy
Washington, D.C.
Project Summary

Rose Technology was selected by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) to implement a $3.4 million $US project to increase operating efficiency and reduce energy costs at their Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C.
The Canadian Embassy to the United States is the flagship chancery in DFAIT’s portfolio of embassies and represents the first time the Natural Resources Canada’s Federal Building Initiative has resulted in a project outside of Canada.
Improvements include controls upgrades, free-cooling heat exchanger, energy recovery ventilators, variable speed drives, power factor correction, water conservation, lighting control systems and lighting upgrades.
The program was financed through Rose Technology, thus, there is no capital investment required from DFAIT. Rose Technology provides a guarantee that the project costs will be repaid from the energy savings that are realized during the contract period. If the accumulated savings are less than the cost of the project, Rose absorbs the difference.
